Barbara was born in Darwin and grew up on Croker Island. She moved to Goulburn Island about five years ago with her family. Barbara is married and has three children.

Barbara's Aunty taught her how to weave pandanus many years ago, and Barbara is now a very talented pandanus weaver.

When Barbara isn't busy collecting pandanus and colour she likes to go fishing for trevally which are her favourite fish to eat. She also enjoys mud crabs.
