Sandy was born in Darwin, and has lived in Warruwi since he was a young boy. He lived at Malwun Outstation for some time before coming to Warruwi.

Sandy's father taught him how to paint, but Sandy didn't start painting until he was about twenty one years old. Sandy now paints his fathers dreaming, which helps him to remember his father and his culture. Sandy often paints his mothers dreaming too.

Sandy is not married and has no children. He spends his spare time painting and hunting. His favourite foods are long neck turtle, file snake, dugong and sea turtles and their eggs. Sandy also likes balanda (European) food like Hungry Jacks.
