The West Arnhem Shire Council is dedicated to providing a dynamic mix of Arts and Culture related projects across the four Indigenous communities within the west Arnhem district of; Gunbalanya (Oenpelli), Maningrida, Warruwi (Goulburn Island) and Minjilang (Croker Island).

Indigenous Language Projects

The following language projects use language as a tool to help strengthen cultural identity in Western Arnhem Land. This is achieved through activities relating to language such as recording stories and histories from local elders in a variety of dialects that relate to these languages. Many bi-lingual publications have been produced such as dictionaries, story books, posters and CD’s.
